Aaron LaTowsky, MD
Dr. Aaron LaTowsky grew up on a cattle ranch in the Sandhills of western Nebraska where his mother's family homesteaded during the land rush. His paternal grandfather was a prominent urologist in Omaha, Nebraska. He graduated from high school in Alliance, Nebraska ranked 2nd in his class. During college he cheered for the Cornhuskers at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln while on several scholarships. After graduating within the prestigious honors program with near-perfect grades, he matriculated in medical school at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha. After a highly competitive matching process, he then secured a position in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania at arguably the finest urology residency program in America. He is now an Ivy League-trained urologic surgeon bringing world-class surgical expertise to Arizona.
During his five years in urologic training at the University of Pennsylvania, Dr. LaTowsky received continuous praise and an award for his exceptional talent in surgery. He developed a passion for surgical procedures requiring especially precise technique. Such procedures include penile prosthesis placement, treatment of Peyronie’s disease, neurostimulator placement, vasectomy reversal, laser surgery of the prostate, labiaplasty, and female pelvic reconstruction. He also enjoys treating general urologic disease such as kidney, bladder and prostate cancer, stone disease, painful bladder and prostate, and many other conditions.
Unique to only a few urology training programs in the country, Dr. LaTowsky received extensive experience with female pelvic reconstruction. Given the opportunity to develop specialized skills in surgery for women, he excelled and was referred to as a “prodigy” by one of his instructors. He has learned open, laparoscopic, and robotic techniques to offer the most advanced and appropriate therapy available.
Throughout residency and afterwards, Dr. LaTowsky has sought to further advance his knowledge and surgical skill by continued training under the nation’s leading urologists and gynecologists. He has attended many specialized courses in cities such as Baltimore, Detroit, Atlanta, Rochester, Dallas, and Raleigh-Durham. He seeks to maintain for his patients the most up-to-date techniques and the highest degree of surgical excellence possible.
Dr. LaTowsky understands that there are multiple treatments available for most urologic problems. His philosophy is that patients and physicians should communicate openly about therapeutic goals and preferences in order to select the most appropriate therapy on an individual basis. He is able to develop and offer a comprehensive treatment plan including several options which the patient will choose under the careful guidance of Dr. LaTowsky.
When not actively pursuing the art of medicine, he takes time to focus on his family and other interests. His wife, Brenda LaTowsky, is a dermatologist at North Valley Dermatology specializing in hair transplant and laser cosmetic surgery. Hiking, cycling, running and weightlifting keeps them fit and allows them to soak up the beautiful Sonoran Desert. He is an active gardener and has won blue ribbons in the prestigious Philadelphia Flower Show.
Jennifer Klauschie, MD
Dr. Jennifer Klauschie completed a 3 year fellowship in Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery (Urogynecology) at Mayo Clinic Arizona. She is bringing her expertise to Phoenix's west valley communities. She treats a wide variety of pelvic floor conditions; combining best practices using evidence based medicine, a multi-disciplinary approach for pelvic floor conditions, and a wide variety of medical treatments and surgical procedures.
Dr. Klauschie grew up in Albuquerque, New Mexico with 5 siblings and her parents. Her interest in medicine began as a young child being influenced by her unique family. Several of Dr Klauschie's siblings have special needs, which meant being a caretaker from an early age and spending a lot of time in medical care settings. She believes that this aspect of her life has given her a special understanding of the challenges that patients and families experience with the healthcare system. Her medical care philosophy as a physician is to take a team approach with patients and empower them to understand their conditions and help guide them to make the best decision for themselves. Her dedication to advancing the field of medicine was first demonstrated when she submitted her first research publication in high school and it was accepted in a peer-reviewed journal at the age of 18.
Dr. Klauschie left New Mexico to attend Wells College in upstate New York for her Bachelor of Arts Degree. She spent her summers doing research and preparing for medical school at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation. She then returned to her hometown and attended medical school at the University Of New Mexico School Of Medicine where she received her MD. She found her passion for women's' health and entered residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Exempla Saint Joseph Hospital in Denver, CO. During residency, she gained invaluable experience and surgical training which prepared her for entering fellowship. She continued her research and presented at the Society of Gynecologic Surgeons and was accepted into fellowship at Mayo Clinic Arizona.
She chose the subspecialty of Urogynecology so that she could advance her knowledge and gain expertise in treating pelvic floor conditions. Her fellowship at Mayo Clinic allowed her to train with world-renowned experts in the field of gynecology and provided her with vast surgical experience. Although many urogynecologists in the community traditionally offer only vaginal surgery to repair pelvic floor conditions, Dr Klauschie offers minimally invasive surgery, such as laparoscopic and robotic surgery. She continues to publish in the field of Urogynecology and minimally invasive gynecologic surgery. To stay abreast of current treatments, Dr Klauschie attends and presents at national meetings such as the American Urogynecologic Society (AUGS), Society for Urodynamics and Female Urology (SUFU), American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists (AAGL), World Robotics Global Congress (WRGC), and the Society of Gynecologic Surgeons (SGS). She's also a guest lecturer at Mayo Clinic's Urogynecology Course and Mayo Clinic's Advanced Endoscopic and robotic surgery course.
Dr. Klauschie joined Academic Urology and Urogynecology of Arizona to be a part of a unique medical group in the west valley that combines two specialties, providing comprehensive medical care and surgical treatments for men and women with genitourinary disorders.
While away from work, Dr. Klauschie loves to travel with her spouse, visit friends and family all over the country, and spending time in the ocean snorkeling, scuba diving, and boating. Additionally she enjoys off-road activities in the desert and can even be found participating in charity events such as 5K runs and bicycle rides for organizations that support breast cancer research, diabetes, homeless children, and Veterans, to name a few.
